News from the Richard C. Adkerson School of Accountancy
Greetings from the Director
We continue to strengthen our programs by responding to the new pathway to CPA licensure, enhancing the value of our MPA and MTax degrees and expanding the integration of artificial intelligence, analytics and emerging technologies throughout the curriculum. These efforts ensure our graduates possess the skill set required by employers and to thrive in a rapidly evolving profession.
Our commitment to recruitment and outreach is also paying dividends with increasing enrollments. Undergraduate enrollment was up last fall and spring by 11%. Graduate enrollment is trending up about 10% this fall. The Whitmire Accelerating Students into the Accounting Profession (ASAP) camp continues to be an exceptional pipeline for introducing talented high school students to the accounting profession and to Mississippi State University. The enthusiasm and engagement of this year’s participants reinforce the important role ASAP plays in inspiring future Bulldogs and future CPAs.
We also celebrate the achievements of our faculty and students. From faculty research awards and new faculty hires to Beta Alpha Psi’s Gold status recognition and outstanding CPA Exam performance by our graduate students, there is much to be proud of in the School. These successes would not be possible without the support of our alumni, employers and donors.
As you read the stories in the newsletter, I hope you share the pride in all that is taking place in the Adkerson School of Accountancy. Thank you for your continued partnership and investment in our students and programs. Together, we are preparing the next generation of accounting leaders and advancing a profession that is more dynamic and impactful than ever before.
Hail State!

Director and Adkerson Professor of Accounting
The Adkerson School of Accountancy continues to build on a tradition of excellence, innovation and impact. As you will see throughout this edition of the Bulldog Ledger, our students, faculty and alumni are achieving remarkable success and helping shape the future of accounting education and the accounting profession. We are especially proud to celebrate Mississippi State alumna Jan Lewis, who now serves as Chair of the AICPA – a tremendous accomplishment that reflects the quality, leadership and influence of our alumni.
