Lewis Elected Vice Chair of AICPA
Alumna Jan Lewis, CPA, CGMA, has been elected Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA). The 1985 summa cum laude MSU accountancy graduate is a Tax Partner with BMSS Advisors and CPAs.
This national office positions Lewis to become AICPA Chair in 2026. She has long served the profession as a volunteer with both AICPA and the Mississippi Society of CPAs (MSCPA). Among her AICPA roles, she has chaired the Tax Practice and Procedures Committee and the Tax Executive Committee, and she joined the Board of Directors in 2023. Her extensive work with the MSCPA has included a term as President, and she is currently on its Long Range Planning Committee and Young CPA Liaison Committee.
At Mississippi State, she is a member and past Chair of the Adkerson School of Accountancy Advisory Council. In 2016, Lewis was recognized as the College of Business’ Alumni Fellow, and she was chosen as MSU Beta Alpha Psi Alumna of the Year in 2000.
She has taught continuing education classes nationwide in the areas of tax planning business tax matters and S Corporation tax matters; given presentations or authored articles on financial literacy, tax reform and other tax issues and been interviewed by media such as NPR and the Wall Street Journal on policy and practice matters affecting taxpayers. Forbes named her to its inaugural “America’s Top 200 CPAs” list in 2024.
Our School offers enthusiastic congratulations to Lewis, along with appreciation for all she does for MSU students and the accounting profession at large.
