The Adkerson School of Accountancy’s Beta Alpha Psi (BAP) members have once again shown themselves to be outstanding contributors to the profession and to society.  The international  honor society has awarded Superior status to Mississippi State’s BAP chapter – the top chapter achievement level.

This represents the 23rd time MSU’s Beta Kappa chapter has achieved Superior status since 1989.

“The achievement of Beta Alpha Psi superior chapter represents an exceptional level of commitment to participation in professional, service and outreach activities by all members of Beta Alpha Psi,” says Dr. Alan Stancill, advisor and Assistant Clinical Professor of Accountancy.

The student members are involved in a range of professionally-related activities such as attending presentations by alumni and industry specialists, tutoring Principles of Accounting students and presenting at regional and national meetings.  They also participate in community service events like Operation Christmas Child.

“This achievement reflects not only the commitment of our students, but also the support of the Adkerson School of Accountancy and our many alumni and industry partners who give of their time and expertise to provide professional and personal development opportunities for our members,” Stancill states.

It also requires thoughtful guidance from committed faculty advisors.  Stancill is serving this year alongside longtime advisor Dr. Clyde Herring, who will hand the reins over when he retires in June.
