This past year, MSU accounting alumni enjoyed gatherings in Memphis, TN, and in Jackson, MS. They were opportunities to be updated about the Adkerson School of Accountancy by Director Shawn Mauldin, as well as catch up with friends and have some fun. Featured as the speaker at both events was Blair Schaefer, Coordinator of MSU Women’s Basketball Player Development.

“Gathering MSU accounting alums in one place is special,” comments alumnus Brooks Mosley, President of Ballew Wealth Management.  “It is a great way to reconnect and an excellent opportunity for those who have not had the School on their radar to see and hear about its many accomplishments. We have a compelling story to tell, and the accounting school  at MSU benefits the whole state.”

Mosley co-hosted the Jackson event with alumna Jan Lewis, Tax Member at Haddox Reid, at the Jackson Country Club. The Memphis alumni met at the Chickasaw Country Club, hosted by KPMG Partner David Hopkins and International Paper’s Dan Learned, Finance Director-Global Financial Services. The first alumni social was held by Learned and Hopkins in 2018 at International Paper.

“Our Memphis area accounting alumni welcomed the chance to get together again with their fellow Bulldogs,” Hopkins comments. “It was a treat to meet Blair Schaefer and her mother and to hear Blair share her experiences as a college athlete and in her new role as a member of Coach Schaefer’s staff.”

These gatherings are expected to become annual events. To learn more about them, or if interested in hosting one in your city, contact the ASAC office at 662-325-3710.
