Beta Alpha Psi Chapter Earns Superior Status

MSU’s Beta Alpha Psi chapter now holds top-level Superior status.

Mississippi State’s chapter of Beta Alpha Psi (BAP) has achieved Superior status. The national accounting honor society recognized the group at its annual meeting in Chicago this past fall.

“Superior” is the top BAP chapter achievement level. The honor is based on activities and accomplishments during the previous academic school year. It requires the chapter to participate in professional activities and community service and is also based on individual members’ service hours.

For the MSU chapter, some of these activities included promoting accounting to prospective students, networking with firms to promote accounting careers and tutoring fellow business students. They were also involved in Operation Christmas Child and projects with the Salvation Army.

“Earning Superior Chapter for the 2018-2019 year is a testament to the commitment and active participation of the membership of our chapter,” states Associate Clinical Professor Dr. Clyde Herring, the chapter’s advisor. “I strongly encouraged the chapter members to be committed to achieve this goal, but it is their active participation in professional programs and service activities that earns this award, which comes with a $500 check to help support chapter activities. My hope is that our chapter continues the commitment to earning Superior Chapter status on an annual basis.”
