Herring Suite Debuts with Open House

The Dora Rose Herring Accountancy Suite in the Richard C. Adkerson School of Accountancy officially debuted November 15 with an open house. Among those celebrating the renaming and renovation of the accounting offices were members of the Herring family, the ASAC Advisory Council, faculty and students.

The suite has been transformed to give it the look of a modern professional accounting firm. It features an enlarged reception area and conference room, new tutoring lab and graduate assistant office and updated faculty and staff offices.

The suite’s name honors the memory of a highly accomplished, respected and loved longtime faculty member and School director. The renovation was made possible entirely through external funds given in tribute to Dr. Herring. Richard Adkerson, her former student, provided the lead gift, and her family contributed a naming gift for the conference room. Many other former students and colleagues joined in as well. Naming gifts for individual spaces in the suite include the Herring Family Conference Room, the Linda Garrett Accounting Tutoring Lab, the David & Paula Hopkins Academic Coordinator Office, the Allen & Denise Poole Director’s Suite and the John D. Scott Graduate Assistant Lab.
